Before the shoot
1. You apply
The application takes about three minutes: your details, which projects interest you, a clear photo of your face and a few words about why you'd like to take part. A person reads every application, and we reply within a week.
You don't need a portfolio or any modelling experience. We photograph real people, and every body is welcome.
2. A short video call
If it looks like a fit, we arrange a short video call. It's a chance to meet us, ask anything and talk about what you are and aren't comfortable with. There's no commitment.
3. You choose your level and sign the release
Before the day, you review and sign the model release, and we agree the level you're comfortable shooting at. You can add your own conditions to the release, which we agree together before anything is signed.
- 1No nudity. Clothed throughout.
- 2Implied nudity. Suggestive but covered.
- 3Full nudity. Whole body shots.
- 4Abstract nudity. Artistic and non-sexual.
- 5Erotic imagery. Sensual content.
Choosing a level doesn't commit you to it. You can always go lower on the day, and we'll adjust straight away without asking why.
On the day
4. The shoot
A shoot takes two to three hours, in a private studio or, for our couples project, sometimes a flat or hotel suite. You'll have time to arrive and settle in before any photos are taken.
Usually it's just you and the photographer, occasionally with a lighting assistant we've agreed with you beforehand. You can ask for a photographer of a particular gender, and you're always welcome to bring a chaperone without telling us in advance.
There's nothing special to bring. Your shoot brief covers the details, but we want to photograph you as you are, so it's all things you already own. We'll take a copy of your ID on the day, unless you've verified it in advance through EqualFrame.
5. You're paid on the day
Riding Solo shoots pay £120 per person and Sunday Morning shoots pay £120 per couple (or the local-currency equivalent), paid on the day. The Inside Out add-on pays an extra £30. There's no invoicing and no waiting, and we never charge participants anything.
Afterwards
6. Your images and the book
You receive at least three edited digital images, and free prints of the eight photos of you that appear in the book. You can buy your own copy of the book at 30% off.
The photographs in the book appear only in print, never online. We only share an outtake online if you've given us permission for that specific image.
Common questions
Can I stay anonymous?
You can appear under a pseudonym, and many participants do. Your face does need to be in the photographs: the books are portraits of real people.
Can I withdraw after the shoot?
The release doesn't give a contractual right to withdraw once it's signed, but if you have second thoughts, talk to us. We'll do our best to accommodate any reasonable request.
Who will be in the room?
Usually just the photographer, and occasionally a lighting assistant, which we agree with you beforehand. You can ask for a photographer of a particular gender. You are always welcome to bring a chaperone, without telling us in advance.
What should I bring or wear?
Nothing complicated. Your shoot brief covers the details, but we want to photograph you as you are, so it's all things you already have in your wardrobe.
Do I need a particular kind of body?
No. Every body is welcome: tattoos, scars, disabilities, and any age from 18 up, with no upper limit.
