Shooting in Berlin

A city where the body has always been political, personal, and celebrated. Berlin's radical openness makes it one of our most important shooting locations.

What to expect

Where art and honesty meet

Berlin is a city that has never been afraid of the human body. From the Freikörperkultur tradition to its thriving contemporary art scene, there is a cultural ease here that makes our work feel not just welcome but entirely at home. We travel to Berlin several times a year to shoot, typically running three to five days of sessions during each visit.

We work primarily in studio spaces in Kreuzberg, Neukölln, and Mitte. Berlin's abundance of converted industrial spaces means we have access to studios with extraordinary natural light, high ceilings, and that particular aesthetic gravity that the city does so well. These are private, secure spaces where you can focus entirely on the experience.

For couples shooting for Sunday Morning, we sometimes work in carefully chosen apartments and boutique hotel suites in Prenzlauer Berg and Charlottenburg. The domestic warmth of these spaces brings an authenticity that serves the project beautifully. Every location is scouted in advance and chosen for comfort and privacy above all else.

The creative landscape

Berlin's relationship with the body in art

Berlin has a unique relationship with nudity and the body in art. The city's history of Freikörperkultur, its queer liberation movements, and its tradition of confrontational visual art mean that body-positive photography is not niche here -- it is part of the cultural fabric. That context matters. It means our participants in Berlin often come to us with a particularly grounded sense of why this work matters.

We have a relationship with Haze Gallery in Friedrichshain, a space dedicated to contemporary photography and visual art that regularly exhibits work exploring the body, identity, and vulnerability. Being connected to Berlin's gallery community keeps our work in dialogue with the broader artistic conversation happening in the city.

We also maintain a creative partnership with Fotografiska in Stockholm, the internationally renowned photography museum. While Stockholm is not yet a regular shooting location, our relationship with Fotografiska connects our Berlin work to the wider Nordic and European photography world. Several of our Berlin participants have been part of exhibitions that travelled between these cultural centres.

Berlin's international community means we regularly shoot with people who have relocated from across Europe, the Middle East, and beyond. The diversity of backgrounds and stories we encounter in Berlin is unmatched. It makes the work richer, more nuanced, and more representative of how body positivity looks in a truly global city.

Practical details

How a Berlin shoot works

Our Berlin shoots follow the same process as all Cesare House sessions. Once your application is accepted, we will have an introductory video call to get to know each other, answer your questions, and discuss boundaries. When the dates for our next Berlin trip are confirmed, we will find a time that works for you.

Sessions last between two and three hours. We shoot in both English and German -- our team includes German speakers, so you can communicate in whichever language feels most natural. Everything about the day is designed to feel unhurried. You will have time to arrive, settle in, and feel genuinely comfortable before any photography begins.

Payment is at our standard rate, the same as all our locations worldwide. We believe in equal pay regardless of where you are based. Payment is made on the day, directly to you. No bureaucracy, no waiting.

If you are travelling from elsewhere in Germany or neighbouring countries to shoot with us in Berlin, we are happy to discuss scheduling that works around your travel. Several of our participants have come from Hamburg, Munich, Dresden, and even Prague and Warsaw.

"Als Berlinerin bin ich mit Aktkunst aufgewachsen, aber das hier war etwas anderes. Es war leise, respektvoll und hat mich wirklich berührt. I felt completely safe the entire time."

-- Lena, Berlin shoot participant
